Marshall Yanis
Security researcher focused on reverse engineering and space systems.
Currently
I work as a Senior Cyber Analyst while pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science. I hold a Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, CompTIA Security+ certification, and maintain an active security clearance.
Currently employed but open to new opportunities, especially in the space domain.
Background
I was initially drawn to offensive security for the cool factor, but really fell in love with the field when I started learning about the inner workings of computers and what makes our digital infrastructure tick. There's something deeply satisfying about understanding systems at a fundamental level.
My interest in space domain security comes naturally. I enjoy stargazing with my Apertura AD8 Dobsonian telescope, and the intersection of space systems and security presents fascinating challenges. From satellite communications to ground infrastructure, it's an area where security has real consequences.
Previously served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as an Aviation Ordnance Systems Technician.
What I Work On
Reverse Engineering
Tearing apart binaries to understand how they work. Ghidra workflows, binary analysis, and low-level system understanding.
Embedded Security
Firmware analysis, IoT security, and understanding how embedded systems can be attacked and defended.
CTF Competitions
Participate when time allows. I enjoy writing detailed reports on challenges I've completed.
Space Systems
Satellite security, attack surface analysis, and understanding the unique challenges of space infrastructure.
Beyond Security
Security Conferences
I enjoy attending security conventions and connecting with the community. Recent events include DEFCON 33 and HACKSPACECON 2026.
Music
I play guitar and write music in a band called Crowned In Deceit. Music is my creative outlet outside of technical work.
